As UNESCO commemorates the first World Day for Glaciers on 21 March 2025, the exhibition Glaciers in Focus – Guardians of Earth’s Climate Heritage – A Visual Journey Through Earth’s Frozen Treasures opens at UNESCO HQ in Paris. The show invites you to explore the critical role of glaciers in our global life support system.

Glaciers serve as Earth’s natural climate archives, recording centuries of environmental history within their ancient ice layers. Today, as these frozen giants retreat at unprecedented rates, they send us a clear message about the state of our changing climate. This exhibition, presented by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme, aims to foster understanding of glacier systems and inspire collective action for their preservation.

The group show includes work from Project Pressure artists Michael Benson and Klaus Thymann with work from Antarctica, Alaska, Greenland and Uganda.

From March 21st until April 30th, 2025 at UNESCO HQ, 7 Pl. de Fontenoy-Unesco, 75007 Paris, Franc
